It is an entirely different engine family, block, and heads than the 4.3L and the 4.0L used in the LS430 and LS400 cars. It has 380 horsepower which is a 90 horsepower jump from the 4.3L motor and has 50 more lb-ft of torque at 370 lb-ft. Also, DIRECT FUEL INJECTION AND DUAL VARIABLE VALVE TIMING is what really makes the extra horsepower!! The 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC makes for very relaxed cruising on the highway at 80 mph it only turns 2000 rpm so it gas mileage on the highway can go into the upper 20s!!
