The Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (often referred to simply as CVPI or P71) was Ford's production police car. It is the law enforcement version of the Ford Crown Victoria. It is the most widely used automobile in law enforcement departments of the United States and Canada. In April 2011, Ford stopped accepting orders for the CVPI, instead offering a version of the Ford Taurus. The Police Interceptor came equipped with a host of options that set it apart from the stock Crown Victoria. There were equipped with an external oil-to-coolant heat exchanger to reduce engine oil temperatures, allowing the vehicles to idle for extended lengths of time without overheating. The computer is tuned for more aggressive transmission shift points, and the transmission itself is built for firmer and harder shifts. The engine has slightly higher compression over the stock 4.6L used in non-police vehicles, at 9.6:1 vs 9.5:1. The 2006-present Police Interceptors are equipped with a 3.27:1 and a 3.55:1 optional trac loc rear axle ratio compared to 2.73 NON POLICE from the factory that is electronically limited to 140 mph due to the lower driveline-critical vehicle speed, while the Police Interceptors equipped with a 3.27:1 rear axle ratio have generally been limited to approximately 131 mph (211 km/h). This compares to 110 mph for the "civilian" model. All Police Interceptors also come with T-409 stainless steel dual exhaust systems without resonators. On 2004 and newer models, P71s have a 200 amp alternator and a 78 A h battery. The car you see here is an 83,000 original mile car that comes with all of the options. Fresh off the streets, the car still retains all of its lights, sirens, cameras and radar equipment as well as computer mount. The paint on the car is in very good condition with no damage to be found with the exception of one small spot on the bottom of the driver's side door as you can see in the photos. Both front and rear bumpers are in very good condition with no damage showing. Inside, the seats look good but there is a tear to the driver's side seat as you can see in the photos. The passenger side and rear seats all look great. The car retains all of its equipment inside that includes radar, camera with recording box in the trunk, laptop mount, lights and sirens. The back seat is vinyl with a cage. Under the hood, the stock 4.6 liter V8 runs great. With the added punch from the police package, the car is faster, stronger and tighter than your standard Crown Victoria. The motor runs as it should and the transmission is strong and shifts with no problems. In the trunk you will find the recording box for the dash camera as well as the radio system. All four tires look good and have good tread life left on them. They are the correct Firestone Firehawk Pursuit's. VIN number is 2FAFP71W26X100943 and the current mileage shows 83,147 which is actual for the car.
