There were two gas engines offered in these, the 5.4L V8 and the 6.8L V10 but the one that got the most attention was the 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel V8 that while it only made 25 less horsepower than the V10, it made 90 lb-ft of torque more at 500 lb-ft with better fuel mileage and pulling power than the V10 gas engine!! Not to mention that the 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel V8 engine has a great reputation for reliability which is the opposite of the later 6.0L Power Stroke.
