Stunning Italian-American exotic! Fully documented California example!! Excellent color combination and completely ready to be enjoyed!! Designed and built in Italy, the DeTomaso Pantera fell into an early "hybrid" production category that was already proven successful by the AC Cobra, Jensen Interceptor, Facel Vega, and the Sunbeam Tiger! The idea; put a high horsepower, reliable American power plant into a sexy import design and it will sell! The DeTomaso 874 Pantera was another fantastic success story offered by Ford! This beautifully cared for 1972 DeTomaso Pantera comes finished in Bright Red over Black vinyl interior. It sold new in Long Beach, CA and stayed there until approximately 2004, before going to a private collection in Texas. Today, it remains perfectly rust-free and comes with meticulous service records dating back to 1976! These exotics came rather well equipped right from the start, and included the 351ci Cleveland V8 4-bolt main engines with factory exhaust headers in 1972. Other factory equipment included power 4-wheel disc brakes, fully independent suspension, synchronized 5-speed ZF transaxle, rack and pinion steering, air conditioning, leather wrapped steering wheel, 4-point seat harnesses, full dash instrumentation, and power windows! This one has upgraded 17" Polished DeTomaso wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubber, and newer Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette radio with Boston speakers. This Pantera has a completely number's matching drive train. The engine was completely rebuilt by Hall Pantera at 98,624 miles to their "Street Mini-Brute" specifications. This included a line bore and finish hone of the original block, OEM 9:1 compression pistons and single moly rings, ClevLite bearings, ground and polished crankshaft, resized rods, High-performance 351 Cleveland camshaft, Morse timing gear and chain, 3-angle valve job, cast iron valve guides, Boss 351 springs, new rocker arms and rods, new fuel and water pumps, and resealed from the inside out! It also comes with its original Warranty/Owners card with stamped VIN plate, past ownership history with service receipts, and Annual Pantera Ownership Club of America plaques from prior owner's participation every year from 1991-2000, and the International Italian Week- Second Annual in 1996. This chrome-bumpered Pantera has been serviced and maintained nearly its entire life by Hall Classic Pantera, Inc. located in Paramount, CA, Vet-Tera Automotive in Newbury Park, CA, and Panteras by Wilkinson also located in Paramount, CA. More recently, the 5-row radiator was completely re-cored and a new Centerforce clutch kit, pressure plate with throw-out bearing, and resurfaced flywheel were just installed. Everything on the car is working including the air conditioning; which tested at a freezing 37 degrees at the vents! This may not be the lowest mileage example on the market, but it comes brilliantly documented from dry Southern California, and mechanically ready to be enjoyed immediately! Please feel free to call with any questions!
