Documented with two factory buildsheets! Numbers matching engine, with Muncie Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission, rare factory 3.31 Posi-Trraction rearend, F41 performance suspension, and updated with power steering And tilt steering column! Awesome muscle car investment! You have to see it! The muscle car race came to a head in 1970, when all manufacturers were full throttle with engine performance options. Tweaking engines to their maximum performances was no longer necessary, but mandatory to keep up with the growing horsepower hungry buyers! Unfortunately, government emission regulations and insurance companies were not too happy with these advancements. For this reason, it seems well known today that many, if not all, production vehicles were published by their manufacturers with slightly altered horsepower rating to undercut their maximum power on the brochures. Things were never going to be the same after 1970, and will forever represent the most powerful, factory built, carburetor-powered engines ever to reign on the streets of America! One of the most sought after today, and most dominant offerings then, was the 1970 Chevelle SS454 LS6 produced during the second half of 1970 production! Huge solid-lifter power, heavy duty components, and massive torque sent chills down the spines of stoplight competition! Even today, one would have to think twice about pushing the limits of an LS6 if given the opportunity! The St. Louis Car Museum couldn’t be more excited to offer this gorgeous 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 LS6 Hardtop finished in factory Cranberry Red with Black bench seat interior! This example comes extremely well documented with past history, and current restoration receipts supporting his present concours-ready presentation! Fitted with its original, numbers matching 454ci V8 producing a factory rated 450 horsepower with 500 ft. lbs. of torque, a new M22 Muncie heavy-duty ‘Rock Crusher’ transmission, very rare highway 3.31 Posi-Traction rear axle ratio, Posi-vacuum power disc brakes, power steering, F41 Performance Suspension with stiffer springs along with front And rear sway bars, tilt steering column, all tinted glass, pushbutton AM radio with windshield antenna, proper 14” Super Sport wheels, Auxiliary Light Group which included rearview mirror map light, trunk light, glove box light, ashtray light, and interior courtesy light! Our beautiful example was professionally restored between September of 2009 through late 2012 with utmost care, and attention to the finest detail! Beginning with an Atlanta-built example found in the dry desert of New Mexico, this LS6 has a documented history dating back to 1984 while owned by residents in the Phoenix, Arizona area before being parked in 1989 in a garage. It traveled to New Mexico with anticipation of restoration after found with 2 original build sheets and approximately 57,000 miles on the odometer. It was quickly offered up for sale in 2009 and sold to an LS6 expert in St. Louis, with only the original transmission being missing to the factory drive train car. Once arrived into Missouri, it was fully disassembled and cataloged properly in frame-off fashion, and delivered to world-reknowned Mann’s Restorations Inc. in 2011 for body preparation starting with a complete media blast of the original sheet metal! Already fully disassembled, it was expertly treated to over 540 hours of body work, all photo documented along with written receipts, bringing this Chevelle to ridiculously stunning perfection! Any areas of the body and floor not meeting their criteria where dealt with by a superb eye. It quite literally sets a new standard to restorers everywhere! Open and close either door, hood, trunk, or window, and you will quickly realize this is no longer your average factory-built And prepared Chevelle! Completely crisp, tight, straight, smooth, and ready for honors wherever shown! The balance of the car is now new, restored, and rebuild to better than factory standards!
