1968 AMC Javelin AMX Unknown

Here we have a well kept classic muscle car with a little history behind it .This car is locally owned by a customer of ours and was purchased new by her late husband. They had a blast throughout the years with this car that now sits with a non numbers matching engine that is installed and the original engine wrapped up and stored which of course goes with the car, the original engine looks super clean and is ready to go. (BOTH ENGINES ARE INCLUDED WITH THE CAR). This car has the sought after Go PacK options, but was not a "go pack" car however it was ordered with the same options (excluding the 140 mph speedometer) and some group 19 options added afterward, factory side pipes, cam, R4 B intake (no longer with the car) and some other modifications that were made like ported and polished heads and although the engine that came with it originally had 315 hp it ‘s now said to have 425 hp with the performance options added soon after the purchase by her and her late husband Gene Slocum aka ”Ramblin Man” during the 58-61 years Slocums 57 Rebel was undefeated Gene also raced the AMX between 1968 and 1977 before retiring it to shows after showing many what AMX could do. The car was featured in publications like car collector in July 1991, and Car Review , it was also used to make the Johnny lightning collector toy car ,they used over 180 pictures of this actual car to make it. The AMC AMX debuted in February 1968 at the Chicago Automobile Show as the first steel-bodied, two seat American production vehicle since the 1957 Ford Thunderbird. Prior to the debut, Craig Breedlove and his team of drivers blew away 106 automobile records. The AMX claimed 90 new Class C records using the 290 V8 with the standard 4 speed transmission, and 16 new records in Class B using the 390 V8 with the optional 3-speed automatic. Needless to say, the AMX had already made waves before it's official debut. The most popular package was the “Go Package”, and could only be installed on the 343 or 390 engines. This package included power front disc brakes, E70x14 redline tires, Twin Grip rear axle in specific ratios, and Twin racing stripes that went over the hood, roof, and trunk in white or black. The Airless Spare was included – a spare tire that took up minimal space, and inflated when you needed it. The AMX “Go Package” vehicles are the most sought after collectibles. Group 19 Options, Group 19 options were dealer installed performance parts, including aluminum intake manifolds, hi lift cams, side pipes, roller rockers, rear ends with gears up to 5.00:1, and rear wheel disc brakes.
