During the mid-Sixties size was in and the 1965-1969 Buick Electra 225s looked the part with their right-angle rear quarter panels. Oddly after completely abandoning tailfins in 1961 this mildly restyled Electras back fenders protruded past the deck to give just a hint of the old finned look. the horizontal look now was de rigueur. Electra filled that bill handily highlighted by a wide ribbed trim strip that extended all the way from the front wheels to the back bumper crossing the rear fender skirts to enhance the cars vastly long silhouette. The expected quad headlights stood side-by-side in a straight-up mesh grille. Four wide stylized VentiPorts arranged in a row told viewers this was indeed a Buick. Its big its sleek and it rides like a dream Electra prospects were informed by the 1965 sales catalog. Better yet it has the look of solid success just the thing to let people know youve arrived. No idle boast that. An Electra sedan stretched out at the curb really did look like it belonged to someone whod achieved worldly success and didnt hesitate to flaunt it. At least a little. Stretching 224 inches from stem to stern an Electra proclaimed ones role in the material world with restrained elegance as opposed to gaudy baubles. Interiors to no ones surprise put plush comfort uppermost fitted with a selection of fine fabrics and leather-grained vinyls. All GM passenger vehicles received a major restyling in 1965 dominated by flowing Coke bottle lines and fastback roof profiles on its coupe models and the 6 window-body style was eliminated as GM moved to place more emphasis on the luxury provided by its four-door hardtop bodies. For 1965 Buick changed its marketing strategy and offering the Electra 225 in two trim levels base and Custom. Along with the new body came a new chassis with a full perimeter frame including side rails that replaced the previous X frame used since 1961. Engine offerings were unchanged from 1964 including the standard 325-horsepower 401 V8. The three-speed Super Turbine 400 automatic transmission was standard equipment. This particular 65 Buick Electra 225 Custom Convertible is a 89000 original mile convertible that comes finished in its original color combination of White with Blue top and interior. The car is loaded with options from the factory that include power seat windows power steering power brakes and under dash A/C that still blows cold! The gentleman we purchased the car from was driving it on a near daily basis for the last 6 months. If the sun was out so was the car he told us. The paint is in very good overall condition with no major imperfections. The color is the original of white but has had a pearl finish added which gives it a great look. The blue soft top with glass back window appears to be new and in great condition. The top is power and goes up and down with no issues. Both front and rear bumpers are in great condition. Inside the blue interior looks great. The seats have been reupholstered in the original style and color and show no imperfections. The front bench seat is power and all functions work with no problems. The carpet is in good overall condition but does show some minor wear in a few places. All gauges are in good working order as well as the lights blinkers horn and wipers. Under the hood the 401 Cu In V8 is extremely clean and presentable. The motor starts with a turn of the key and runs out with no smoking or hesitation. The car has been driven all spring and summer when it wasnt raining outside. The gentleman we bought the car from owned a used car store and got this car in on trade. He liked it so much he decided to use it as his daily driver! All of the tires are in very good condition and are newer radials. The car currently shows 89890 miles and is said to be original for the car. VIN number is 484675H195388 and the car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
