The Isetta was the world’s first mass-produced micro car with sales exceeding 160,000 from 1955 through 1962. The car originated in Italy and then licensed to be built by several different companies around Europe., , The most common and best engineered was made in Germany by BMW. They made the Isetta its own by redesigning the power plant around a BMW one-cylinder, four- stroke motorcycle engine. The first design was a 247 cc known as the 250 model but due to government regulations for motor vehicles, the design changed to a 298 cc engine making the model designation change to a 300. This helped the car be more nimble on the road making it the top speed 53 MPH., , Other small changes happened at this time as well. Its predecessor the 250 featured a bubble window with a front vent while the 300 models featured a larger flat glass styling with a sliding window design for better ventilation. , , The model offered here is a rare “export model” featuring larger diameter 7” headlamps, optional front nerf bars and a front ventilation system in the front door., The car comes out of long-term ownership that has been very well taken care of. It has received a full restoration some time ago that still shows very well. This isetta has the much-desired luggage racks both on the back of the car and behind the rear passenger compartment. , , This 300 operates, as it should with everything in working order. It does not appear to leak or smoke and goes down the road flawlessly., , As the prices continue to rise on these iconic cars, we are very pleased to present one that is ready to go for not nearly the cost as the ones sold recently.
