FMC is proud to offer a rare piece of automotive history. An extremely rare 1956 DeSoto Firedome wagon. This DeSoto has was beautifully restored nearly 7 years ago and still looks like new today. It starts, runs And drives just as well. Anyone who has restored classic cars in the past, knows how hard it is to restore a car like this yet, this car has been restored to unbelievable condition inside and out. The undercarriage remains in its original drivable condition. The cost of restoring this car, to this level and condition is extremely time consuming and the cost far exceeds the asking price. This could be one of the nicest Desoto wagons in the country. With only 2580 made in 1956, there may not be many to compare it too. Originally a California car until being brought to NY shortly after its restoration 7 years ago. , , This top notch restoration included a repaint in its original Pearl Gray And White color. Chrome And trim are near perfect showing a brilliant shine with no dents, dings or pitting. , , The engine is a numbers matching 330ci Hemi V8 that was completely rebuilt during the restoration and runs perfectly. The famous Chrysler pushbutton transmission shifts smoothly in every gear. All wiring has been redone to like new condition. , , Features include power steering, power brakes, AM radio with power antenna and dash mounted clock. Both the clock and power antenna still work... It came equipped with an automatic temperature controlled heater and Chryslers automatic pushbutton transmission. Oil temp, Amps, speedometer and odometer all work as they should. Windows roll easily including the rear tailgate window. , , So whats wrong? , Youd be hard pressed to find anything at all wrong with this car but there are 2 minor issues that wed like to mention., 1. There are 2 chrome door hinges on the tailgate (as shown) that were not refinished during the restoration. The shop was afraid that the 2 door hinges could be broken during the removal and replacements were not readily available. , 2. The drivers side armrest has some wear (as shown) and again, we believe that a replacement was not available at that time so they were left as is. , , Overall, the looks, appearance, running and driving condition of this car is impeccable. You can get in and go anywhere with complete comfort and reliability and easily bring the family with you with room to spare...
