1955 Ford Thunderbird Unknown

Outstanding original vehicle finished in highly sought after Thunderbird Blue! Very sharp thoughout and nearly all original! About the same time the new Chevrolet Corvette was hitting showrooms, the first year production Thunderbird was hitting the drawing board. It was going to offer a luxury sports car feel that would last 11 generational design changes spanning 50 years! Early sales proved they were outselling the fiberglass Corvette nearly 25 to 1 meaning another successful win for Ford! We are very excited to offer this 1955 Ford Thunderbird Roadster finished in correct, and most sought after, Thunderbird Blue (code T) over correct Turquoise/White (code C) interior! This amazingly well survived example was built new in December 1954, sold new in Memphis, TN, and was recently acquired just south of Knoxville! Factory options include original 292ci V8, 3-speed manual transmission, new cloth soft top, AM radio, heater, working 4-way power seat, whitewall tires, and full instrumentation with tachometer! Seatbelts were already added. This car has been with the same former owner since 1995 and did receive its first and only repaint under his care. With the help of a professional body shop owner & friend, the exterior of this car was completely stripped to bare metal soon after his purchase. It was primed and block sanded multiple times prior to paint application. Even after 15 years of careful use, the results still speak for themselves! The paint surrounding the engine bay is still 100% original as well the complete interior! The chrome bumpers, front guards, headlight and taillight bezels were all refinished and look exceptional! The original trim, door handles, and emblems are still in amazing original condition! The car was left as original as possible, so it retains new correct style 4-ply polyester whitewall tires including matching spare, original fender skirts, jack and tire changing tools, and correct 6-volt electrical system with 40amp FOMOCO generator! This car runs and drives with perfect ease! It develops wonderful power through all gears, shifts easily, and brakes confident and straight. The mileage is showing just 128,601 miles which we are confident are original from new, but lack any supporting documentation. It was recently serviced with new fuel pump and filter, upgraded 6-blade cooling fan (original 4-blade fan included), and fresh oil change. This Thunderbird maintains its original Holley “Teapot” carburetor with designation ECK 9510 T & List 1074 1. It represents a very solid, original vehicle that should easily prove to be not just a great investment, but a terrific driver as well!
