Approximately 1,868 Super Six Convertible Broughams were built in 1949. This is a very small percentage of the over ninety-one thousand total Super Six Hudsons for the year. Today, the Hudson, one of America?s orphan automobile companies, is revered for its advanced styling, step-down design, and prominent years on early stock-car tracks utilizing the very powerful Twin-H dual-carb motor. The 48 and 49 models proved more popular than previous incarnations because of trend-setting "Step-Down" design where passengers actually stepped over the threshold and down into the car getting inside, which provided a most comfortable seating position. Dripping with chrome and wearing a striking paint job, this Super Six embodies much of the desirability found in all Hudsons of the day. The competent six-cylinder motor actually had a higher displacement than the eight and produced nearly the same horsepower. Carefully restored to appear as in the era, this convertible is stunning. It rides and handles as you would expect of such an original luxury classic that has been lovingly tended to. It is a smooth handling, very well sorted car ready to go for another 60 years under careful ownership.
