No, the mileage is not a misprint! This pristine car has an actaul 169,000 miles on! This ONE-OWNER, NO ACCIDENTS, 45+MPG VW DIESEL was used by the proverbial 'traveling salesman' in the Mid-Atlantic region and driven an average of 30,000 miles per year. But if you examine the pictures closely, you'll see very little evidence of wear and tear (about the worse is some scratches on the back bumper from dragging items out of the trunk). I've seen more wear on cars with 1/3 the mileage. We have throughly inspected and reconditioned the car; we found a problem, common to all VWs from this period, of a sticking butterfly valve assembly in the intake so we put an entirely brand new VW intake manifold on the car. Additionally, we found worn brakes, so we put new pads and rotors all around. And of course, we did a full fluid and filter service. That's it! The Bridgestone tires are great and the paint, interior, and glass are all in excellent condition. Folks buy these cars for their class leading mileage but also for their reputation to pill on a half-million iles or more without wearing out. There is no question this car will go two or three times the distance it has already gone, making it about the best value of all the cars on the market, gas, electric, or hybrid. The real secret however, is that it is also a blast to dricve; surprisingly quick, great handling, and solidly built.
